The BMW Berlin Plant is one of the most important employers in the German capital with some 1,900 associates. In addition, five hundred associates work at the BMW and MINI branches, at the BMW Maschinenfabrik Spandau GmbH and at the BMW Group office Berlin.
Multi-million-Euro investments for the future have shown BMW’s commitment for the plant right in the middle of Berlin. But the BMW Group is not the only global player in Berlin. The prerequisites for economic success are the convenient location in the middle of Europe, the above average expenditures for research and development and the biggest economic growth of all German states.
Next to the BMW Group a variety of large companys is present in the capital. Berlin provides excellent prerequisites for the economy, for example its strategic location in the middle of Europe, an exceptional amount of research institutes and the largest economic growths of all German regions.
After the structural change of the last years Berlin is more attractive than ever as production and development site. The metal and electrical industries offer more than 50% of all jobs in the manufacturing sector.
More and more high tech companies have settled in the Berlin area in the last few years. The region is a model for electric mobility and leading in railway technology. Every third solar module produced in Germany is made in Berlin.
Using the slogan “Ick bin ein Berliner”, the plant is an active participant in the large-scale campaign “be Berlin”, initiated by the Berlin senate. The campaigns of innovative companies from different industries received much national and international attention, promoting the aspiring and future-oriented industrial metropolis.
